Frederick Meijer Gardens
The center of downtown Grand Rapids and a great place to start exploring on foot. wander Monroe Center and see what’s happening in the square.
Rosa Parks Circle
A wonderfully weird Grand Rapids institution serving old-school hot dogs in Eastown since the 1970s —and the inspiration for the hot dog place in American Pie.

An indoor food hall packed with local vendors, Fresh produce, and plenty of lunch options. Especially good when nobody in the group can agree on what to eat.

Take a walk through one of the country’s largest historic residential districts, filled with gorgeous old homes in nearly every architectural style imaginable.
Heritage Hill
A surprisingly great zoo just minutes from downtown, with more than 2,000 animals and plenty to see in a few hours. A particularly good option for families.

You’re in Beer City, after all. Founders helped put Grand Rapids craft beer on the map and is an easy stop for a pint, a flight, and some classic brewpub food.

Two floors of hands-on exhibits designed for little ones to climb, build, experiment, and play. A great rainy-day option for guests traveling with kids.
John Ball ZOo
A mix of history, science, and nostalgia — complete with a planetarium, an old-fashioned carousel, and a recreated 1890s Grand Rapids streetscape.

For the full fall experience: apple orchards, fresh cider, warm donuts, a winery, and plenty of seasonal activities. Do not leave without the donuts.

A Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece. Beautifully restored with incredible details, a must for anyone who loves architecture, design, or historic homes.

A Grand Rapids tradition for more than 100 years—and a special one for Molly’s family. Her mom loved coming here for fresh flowers.

part sculpture, part functioning fish ladder, right on the Grand River. Stop by for a walk along the water and catch the fish making their way upstream.
