Meet The Bridal Party

Matron of Honor

Andryce Garibay

Andryce and Molly met in high school, but their paths had been crossing for years before that, playing sports against each other in middle school. By high school, they'd even dated the same guy (thankfully not at the same time), so a friendship wasn’t exactly the obvious next step. Then JV tennis paired them together for doubles. Molly named the duo “Modryce,” and the rest was history. Andryce became one of the bride’s very best friends.

Through every phase of their lives — accomplishments and heartbreaks, new loves and enormous losses, everything in between — many things have changed, but Andryce has been a constant source of reassurance. Molly has been inspired watching her earn her PhD and build a career while remaining the same caring person she's always been. She is thoughtful, deeply kind, and impossibly understanding.

It was Molly’s privilege to stand beside Andryce as her Maid of Honor when she married their mutual friend Daniel. She was one of the very first people Molly introduced to Phil. After all these years, there is simply no version of this day that doesn’t include Modryce in it.
Best Man

Sujay Kalathoor

Phil and Sujay met during their very first ICU nights rotation as interns, which is probably as good a test of a new friendship as you can get. Somehow they kept finding themselves on the same rotations throughout residency and over time, a friendship started to form that became one of the most important parts of Phil’s residency years.

Outside the hospital, Sujay became a regular part of golf outings, post-shift beers, outdoor concerts, and Monday Night Football hangs that turn a residency friendship into a lifelong one. He is one of the sincerest and most caring people Phil knows and, more importantly, someone who genuinely listens. Sujay is the kind of friend you can talk to after a hard day and know he'll have follow up questions to better understand what you're going through.

From meeting as brand-new interns to standing beside Phil on his wedding day, Sujay has been an important part of so many of the years that shaped Phil into who he is now. There is no one Phil would rather have next to him as his Best Man as he begins this next chapter with Molly.
Matron of Honor

Sophie Hilker

Sophie and Molly entered high school already knowing each other as basketball rivals (the St. Thomas vs Immaculate Heart of Mary lore will live on in history). However, amidst the open gyms, frequent carpooling, and their single moms tag-teaming the management of two teenagers, a friendship unfolded. By college, Sophie and Molly were inseparable, getting themselves into enough trouble to make stories worth telling, while still managing to become successful adults and healthcare workers.

Over the years, they became more like family. Sophie's mom and sisters became Molly's adopted family and Molly started showing up to holidays and camping trips. Sophie has given Molly a place to live when she needed one (sorry David!), celebrated her accomplishments loudly (is it weird to post her MCAT score as a Facebook status?), tolerated more than a few of her tantrums (like the University of Chicago medical school interview one), and understood the complicated parts of Molly's life without needing explanation.

She is hilarious and fiercely caring. These two are cut from the same cloth, have walked through the same joys and losses of life, and have grown alongside each other for almost 20 years. She is more than one of Molly's best friends, she’s a sister.
Groomsmen

Collin brooks Matt Kubina

Collin and Matt are two of Phil’s closest friends from residency and both became part of his life in the most immersive way as roommates. Collin was Phil’s roommate for the first two years of residency, and Matt during second year. Between the hospital, the apartment, and countless weekends with "the boys", the three of them spent a lot of Phil’s formative years in Ann Arbor together.
Collin is one of the funniest people Phil knows and remains one of his favorite golf partners, while Matt quickly became one of the people Phil could count on most. Both were there for Phil when he was hospitalized unexpectedly, spending hours in his hospital room distracting him (the same hospital they worked 80 hours/week at). They witnessed Molly gradually became part of Phil’s life and his residency friend group. Collin was one of the first of Phil’s friends she really got to know, and Matt welcomed her into the group from the very beginning. One month, Molly was Collin and Matt's senior resident on general medicine wards and they saw her more than they saw Phil!
From surviving residency and sharing apartments to back nines and bachelor trips, Collin and Matt have been woven into Phil’s entire Ann Arbor chapter. Having them beside him on his wedding day feels like bringing two of his biggest hype men into everything that comes next.
Bridesmaid

Kellie Spahr

The first time Molly saw her, Kellie was walking in late to their competitive summer research internship. She thought, "Who's this cool girl showing up late like she owns the place?" It did not take long to discover that Kellie is, in fact, an enormous nerd - but fortunately, so is Molly. They discovered they were both studying biochemistry at the University of Michigan that fall and had enrolled in the same classes. From then on, Kellie became Molly's person in college. Together they endured boring lectures, aced the notoriously difficult CHEM 351 course, survived off mac n' cheese in the Union, and somehow graduated cum laude together.
Their lives have taken them all across the country, but they've never let distance get in the way. Through the pandemic, they called each other to talk for an hour every week. No matter the residency or doctorate program, they traveled to whatever city the other had moved to and visited for a weekend. They always picked up right where they left off.
Kellie is disciplined, brilliant, and deeply principled - the kind of person who does the right thing even when no one is watching. She also makes a mean banana bread, which is equally important in Molly's opinion. If wedding days came with cheat sheets, Kellie would Molly's. She’s the person who makes everything feel manageable just by being there.
Groomsman

Tim rosencrans

Phil met Tim through their shared primary care clinic at the Taubman Center in Michigan Medicine (ask them if they miss Taubman). What started as another recurring part of the residency schedule turned into a friendship that lasted beyond clinic. Tim is one of the most easygoing people Phil knows and makes even the busiest and most stressful parts of residency feel a little lighter.

Tim also has the unique privilege of knowing both Molly and Phil before they were "Molly and Phil." Tim and Molly worked together in the medical ICU as intern and senior (or upper-level as Tim refers to her) and developed a friendship with her early on in residency. At the same time, he was enmeshed in new intern activities with Phil. He had a front-row seat to the bride and groom's lives colliding and becoming one.

Through residency and the years since, Tim has remained one of those friends whose presence is warm, dependable, and always welcome. It feels especially fitting to have someone who knew them both before their relationship began standing beside Phil as they get married.
Bridesmaid

zoë curry

Zoë — or Zoeth as Molly affectionately calls her — is the ultimate cool girl, flirting with trends years before the rest of us figure out what we’re supposed to be listening to, wearing, eating, or doing. The fact that she now lives in New York City feels like the universe put her exactly where she belongs.

Molly and Zoë met one spring day before starting medical school the next fall and decided to become roommates based on a shared desire to live in the "White Coat" neighborhood of Ann Arbor. For the next 4 years, Zoë got a front row seat to a version of Molly very few people have experienced. She knows that if the doorbell rings at 2am it's probably Pizza House with garlic cheesy bread and that at any given moment, Molly might decide their porch is the perfect place for some completely unnecessary new project. They definitely annoyed each other and yet, every year, they signed another apartment lease together.

Zoë became one of the bride's closest friends in medical school and their friendship has followed them through residency, fellowship, and now to their lives as attendings on the East Coast. Look to Zoë to bring humor, energy, and an undeniable cool factor everywhere she goes. Molly already knows this wedding will have better music, better vibes, and considerably more style simply because Zoeth will be there.
